Temple B’nai Shalom: Building Community and Celebrating Traditions

Temple B’nai Shalom has many reasons to feel optimistic about the future. They are in the process of interviewing candidates to replace Cantor Gary Sherman, who passed away a couple of months ago. Many qualified applicants have applied for the position and are being interviewed to find the best fit for the congregation.

The traditional synagogue is also making strides in building a strong community for local Jews. Recent activities have included a "lunch and learn" session featuring videos—ones not readily available in U.S. media—depicting events in the Middle East war. Temple B’nai Shalom also hosted a murder mystery play, written by a synagogue member and performed by congregants. The audience loved the performance, and the actors enjoyed it so much that they’re already requesting another play in the near future.

In December, the synagogue will attend a theater night at the Delray Playhouse to see The Producers. The congregation will celebrate the Jewish holiday in December with their annual Hanukkah service, where everyone is encouraged to bring a Chanukiah (menorah) to light. And, last but not least, January will feature the annual Caribbean cruise aboard the Sky Princess.

Join the congregation for Friday night services at 8 PM at the Activity Center (near Le Club), followed by an oneg Shabbat. Visit the synagogue’s website at templebnaishalom.org or contact Paul Scheiner at (630) 452-1131 with any questions.
