Novice Shares Her Enthusiasm for Singing wih CVE Choraleers
A Snowbird from Canada, I was still feeling a little “out of my element” last year as I began my second season at Century Village East. (I had found a small community of people in the village— but I wasn’t really sure how to spend my time.)
Then a friend suggested I try out for the CVE Choraleers.
I’m not an experienced singer and have never been part of a choir, but I can carry a tune, and I love music. And so I applied.
As a result, the group was kind enough to let me join them for a couple of weeks of practice to see if I was “a good fit.” As a novice, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
What I found was a warm and welcoming community of talented and dedicated singers. With so much experience of their own, they were still gracious enough to assist me when I had some trouble reading music. They were also patient with me while I learned the harmonies in my (alto) section.
I was taken with how therapeutic singing can be as members of the chorus helped create a lighthearted yet meaningful experience for me. I can’t wait to continue to learn from them as I rejoin them for a second season.
So if you have an ear for music, like to have a little fun and know how to work as part of a team, join us for an exciting new season as the Choraleers begins its 51st year at CVE.
The choir holds its practice sessions in the CVE Clubhouse each Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The 2024-2025 season on the evening of Thursday, March 6, when the Choraleers presents its annual musical show, with the full choir and soloists presenting an array of popular and “oldies but goodies” songs and instrumentals.
