The CVE Tennis Club held its annual Ladies’ (Divas) and Men’s A-level Tennis Tournaments on January 11th filling both the Clubhouse and Richmond tennis venues with many of the best tennis players in the Village.

The ladies’ group fielded 20 players, and the men had 19 competitors in a round robin doubles format where every player played games of seven points each. After partnering with each of the three other players assigned to that court, the players were grouped with another set of players and repeated the rotation process in multiple rounds. This gave each player the opportunity to both partner with and play against every other player in both a fun and competitive atmosphere.

The matches were played under the constant threat of rain and the men’s tournament was interrupted with a downpour, but they got well into the matches before the rain came, so they finalized their competition the next day. Snacks and water were provided to the players and based on the laughter and camaraderie between matches, everyone seemed to have lots of fun and friendly competition.
