Deerfield Beach Opens new Community Center

CVE Reporter

The City of Deerfield Beach has officially opened the Johnny L. Tigner Community Center at the Oveta McKeithen Recreational Complex, located off Hillsboro Boulevard just east of I-95. The new facility provides recreational and community services to residents of all ages, offering spaces for events, activities, and programs.

The Johnny L. Tigner Community Center, named in honor of a longtime city employee who dedicated 37 years to public service in Deerfield Beach, includes a banquet hall and several multi-purpose rooms. The facility is designed to accommodate a variety of community programs and gatherings, and city officials say it reflects Deerfield Beach’s commitment to enhancing public amenities for residents.

The grand opening featured guided tours of the new building, interactive demonstrations by instructors, and light refreshments for attendees.

“This center is not only a new resource for the community, but also a way to keep Mr. Tigner’s legacy alive,” a city spokesperson said.
