Blame Mother Nature for Your Cold Shoulder (and Other Chilly Body Parts)

CVE Reporter

Residents diving into Century Village East’s pools recently may have felt the water was, shall we say, a bit brisk. Complaints about the pools being “too cold” have been making waves, prompting CenClub to respond with a splash of clarification—and a little science.

According to CenClub, the pool heaters are set to maintain a cozy water temperature of 86 degrees—perfect for your morning swim, afternoon float, or synchronized water aerobics routine. However, here’s the catch: when the air temperature drops below 55 degrees, the heaters automatically shut off. So, during those cool winter nights, the heaters take a nap, leaving the water to fend for itself against the chill.

CenClub assured residents that the heaters are doing their job when the weather allows, but even the most advanced pool technology can’t outswim Mother Nature.

For those still shivering, let’s put it into perspective: 86 degrees is practically tropical compared to the Atlantic Ocean in January. (You’re not training for the Polar Plunge, are you?) If you’re still not convinced, maybe pack a wetsuit with your towel next time. The pools are about 15 degrees warmer than the ocean in here in Deerfield Beach.

In the meantime, CenClub asks residents to be patient as temperatures fluctuate. The heaters are working hard when the weather cooperates, and warmer days will have everyone happily back to floating in their favorite Village oasis. Until then, remember: a brisk swim builds character—and maybe burns a few extra calories!
